Fourth of July Fireworks

If you are lucky enough to be in Hilton Head for the 4th of July, then you are lucky indeed! Aside from the gorgeous setting, you can pick from three locations for viewing a spectacular show. Although coolers are not permitted at any of the venues, there are many food and beverage choices available to accomodate a variety of tastes.

Birding at Pinckney Island

 Participants will be led by an experienced bird watcher from the Coastal Discovery Museum around Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge. With a combination of habitats including Salt Marsh, Maritime Forest and open fields, this site allows for participants to see many different species of birds. Depending on the time of year, diverse birds can be found including; Summer Tanager, Eastern Kingbird, Painted Bunting, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Egrets, Herons and many, many others.

2014 Fight for Air Climb

 The American Lung Association will be hosting the 2014 Fight For Air Climb on July 26, 2014 at the North Charleston Coliseum. Individuals and firefighters will run up and down the stairs of the Coliseum. There are three different challenges: the Climb, which consist of over 1,500 stairs; the Ultra Climb, which consist of over 5,00 stairs; and the Firefighter Challenge, which consist of firefighters running up and down over 1,500 stairs in full firefighter gear. The Ultra Climb will start at 7am, followed by the Climb at 8:30am and the Firefighter Challenge at 9am. After the event, the American Lung Association will host an after party at the Coliseum. Leading up to the event, the American Lung Association will hold practices at the North Charleston Coliseum.

This fun, interactive family program, led by a professional archaeologist will introduce you to the field of archaeology.
